Although the BYD Tang L continues to use the BYD design philosophy, the changes are quite noticeable. It features a split front light assembly for the first time, with square-shaped light elements inside the light chamber. Below the headlights are black decorative pieces and hidden air ducts, and an active grille is installed below the license plate holder.
The body side of the Tang L has a more three-dimensional shape, equipped with silver trim and hidden door handles. The rear features a new Through type light strip light assembly, and the rear window spoiler is equipped with a vertically arranged high-mounted brake light. In terms of dimensions, the Tang L standard version measures 5040/1996/1760 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. The Tang L with the intelligent in-car drone system has an increased body height of 210 mm, while other dimensions remain unchanged.
The Tang L will be equipped with a roof-mounted lidar, and multiple driving assistance sensors will be installed throughout the vehicle. Judging from the rear badge, it will feature the advanced intelligent driving laser DiPilot 300 system, which supports urban navigation, valet parking, and other functions. Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with a fast-charging intelligent in-car drone system, including a customized DJI Air 3S drone and a dual-purpose controller, supporting dynamic takeoff and landing, intelligent follow-flight, and one-button return to the compartment. The in-car system will also have a built-in app with 30 video editing templates, supporting one-click video production, secondary editing, and sharing to mainstream social media platforms.
The interior of the Tang L adopts a new family-style design, with an overall layout similar to the previously launched BYD Xia, featuring the same steering wheel and center console layout. Additionally, bamboo wood materials are used on the dashboard and door panels, enhancing the vehicle's quality. The vehicle will also be equipped with a 15.6-inch center console screen and a HUD head-up display system.
The Tang L in the photos features a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, with the first two rows of seats supporting ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The front center console box is equipped with an in-car compressor refrigerator, which can be opened from the rear seats. Additionally, the Tang L is equipped with a panoramic sunroof and Dynaudio sound system. The pure electric version will also feature a front trunk, and the rear cargo space can be expanded to 1960 liters when the second and third-row seats are folded down.
The Tang L will offer both pure electric and plug-in hybrid power types. The pure electric models include rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. The rear-wheel drive version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 500 kW, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The all-wheel drive version features an AC asynchronous motor with a maximum power of 230 kW and a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 580 kW, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.
